About Our Shepherd: Dr. Byron Anthony Sterling, D.D / Chaplain / Minister
Shepherd Dr. Byron A. Sterling
Pastor Byron Anthony Sterling was born, July 17, 1964, in the beautiful island of Jamaica West Indies to the parents of Evangelist Desmond Sterling and Missionary Linnet Sterling. He migrated to the United States in November of 1977, and a year later got baptized by Bishop Arron Reid at the Mt. Zion Church of God 7th Day in Brooklyn, New York. Pastor Byron Sterling received the baptism of the Holy Spirit, during the Joint General Conference, which was held in Canada in the early 80's.
In the early year of 1982, he accepted membership at the Church Avenue Church of God 7th Day, pastored by the late Pastor Harold Walker. In the late 80's, under the leadership of Pastor Wade G. Rose (Brooklyn Community Church, Church of God 7th Day, Denver General Conference), he became the Assistant Youth Leader and Drummer for the church. During this time a group of vibrant young men of God formed a singing group called the Harmony Brothers.
He is the proud father of two lovely children, Patrice Sterling and Byron Sterling Jr. He served as Elder under the leadership of Bishop Dr. David Dief Ebanks, Jesus Is Lord Ministries (Sabbath Day Church). In 1991, he graduated from the City College of New York with a BA Degree in Technology Education. Five years later, he received his masters’ from the University of The City College of the City of New York in Special Education. In the summer of 1985, he appeared on the Bob Slate Morning Show on WLIB/WBLS, promoting the Summer Youth Program of New York City.
For several years he ran from the ministry, but God was constantly visiting him in his dreams. God also took him to several near death experiences (van crashes 2 times, one on the Verrazano Bridge, and robberies at gun point) but his heart was still hardened. One morning he heard a song by the late Sharon Dyer-Sharp in his sleep. He woke up crying and immediately fell on his knees and prayed. He has never been the same since that morning.
In 2000, Pastor Sterling started his own private business, STERLING B WORLDWIDE, powered by AmwayGlobal.com. He attended his first business function, Winter Conference 2001, and Bill Britt spoke.” He was speaking directly to me and me only even though there were over 15,000 people in the audience.” After that weekend he answered the call of God upon his life. The BWW educational system shaped him into an effectual leader.
July 17 of 2005, Dr. Ronald Smith, Seventh Day Adventist Theologian/Pastor, and Dr. Sir Herman Keck Jr., Dean, University of Dallas Texas ordained him as Pastor and Chaplain. Three years later, he was anointed to serve as a ministering pastor by Dr. William Samson, William Samson University and Bishop Dr. David Dief Ebanks, Jesus Is Lord Ministries (Sabbath Day Church). Pastor Byron A. Sterling is also the recipient of The State of New York Legislative Resolution 2012. He also was rewarded with the NYC Citation Award Certificate for Community Outreach Against Gun Violence. He is the Founder/President of "1000 Strong" which is an Humanitarian Non-Profit Organization that gives voice to those who are affected by different forms of violence.
God has been better than good to Pastor Sterling. His first organization, Intercessory Community Outreach Support Organization, a non-profit youth organization, got formed in 2006. In 2008 to 2010, he pastored the United Church of God 7th Day of East Orange, New Jersey. Then in 2011, he started Intercessory Community Outreach Ministries (Church of God 7th Day) Inc. Pastor Sterling met Petrona Clark when she attended service, one Sabbath in 2012. They got married in August of that same year. He received his Doctorate of Divinity degree from the William Samson University in Virginia after submitting and completing all requirements on June 7, 2014. His vision is to empower people’s mind, body and spirit through education. “Knowledge is Power, but the use of Knowledge is Empowerment”... the use of knowledge is the true power.

He was rewarded in 2014 by Dr. Hopeton Lewis, Songs 4 Life Music Award, for Outstanding Community Services. Shepherd Dr. Sterling is a man of God who is completely sold out for God.
